Answered Prayer; Dream Come True

My heart is full.
I wanted pictures, but I knew it was going to be too hectic to get pictures, and I was right. I finally had "my new family to love," come over to my house.

We had great food, and now I have precious memories and a full, hopeful heart.  I  have a wonderful story: epilogue and chapter one.

I had always wanted to foster or adopt children.  Before I ever married, I prepared a room at my house for the foster child that I dreamed of....

Ten years later, I prepared to adopt a teenager, and he did not let me. (Full story in poetry form here: .    The story about when he got married, here:

I mentored several children over the years,  and raised two of my own.  One flew out of the nest and gave me a granddaughter that I get to see occasionally.  My youngest is a delightful young lady that will be in high school next year.  When she ventures away for socializing with out me, I feel 100% empty nest and it is not easy.

Letting go of my son was difficult.
He's doing GREAT. He doesn't need me.

So much of life has passed me.  I don't expect to foster or adopt.  I lack energy and yet my heart...

I had literally called out to the Lord, "Can you show me someone who is doing that...someone who is giving children a home...someone that I can step up beside to love, support, encourage, provide respite care for...I want someone to love  Father..."

Then my daughter works in the church nursery, and from her I learn that there is a family at my church...... who I have seen- sit right in front of me before... who has done what I dreamed of doing!

They adopted three, and have three from their biology.

I approached her, the SWEET MAMA just "out of the blue"one Sunday after the service and just introduced myself and started telling her who I am and what I dream of.... how I had been praying, and how I wanted to be here for her and her family, and believed it was an answer to  my prayer...  and she didn't RUN.

Now, I have adopted her and her family into my heart.

The story about how her family came to be, is remarkable, amazing, and miraculous, (truly God at work!!)  and which I want to learn more details about and blog on later with permission, but for now I will share that God has answered my heart's desire.  He has given me a family to love and support.

Amazing God that our Father is, He also moved on my daughter's heart.  She is in 100% agreement with me that it will be our love ministry!

Right now the expectation is that we will, every 6 weeks or so, go to their house and spend the day with their 6 children, and try to make a super fun day of it with them, while SWEET MOMMA and AMAZING DAD go out and enjoy time with each other.

We will be figuring this out as we go, but I feel God in this all the way.  SWEET MAMA talked of possibility of compensating me and I said, "No way, but I tell you two things that I am gonna get out of this:  Number one, my daughter says she's going to have 5 or 6 children, and this will be really good practice for her.  Number two, I am an older mother and I am always looking for others who are younger who may be here for my daughter..... You and your family could end up being the most important people in the world to my daughter!  That is what I get out of it, and I just feel blessed!"

My heart is overflowing with gratitude, and love and hope.  Walking with our Father is a blessed life indeed.

Pictures and more later, if/when I get permission.

Me... I am a happy grannie, and have just adopted 8 more into my heart (6 children).  My world has grown in love, and I am so grateful.  ( I added eggs in my chalkboard art)
Thanks for letting me share. Don't give up on your dreams ya'll!  Commit your purpose to the Lord, and your adventure will be GREAT!

Marvelous Moments in His Word; Romans 4

Every Monday, I am thanking Ally from The Speckled Goat for including me in her project link-up, Blogging Through the Bible.

I chose the book of Romans, and am on chapter 4.

About 8 years ago, I bought an economical, soft leather-bound, simple large print King James Version Bible that I allow myself to write in.  Using different pens and highlighters I have made marks to show as an outward sign where something happened in my heart...what meant something to me...

As I began chapter 4, I thought, "That is strange.  No marks.  Hmm.  Am I not going to get much out of this post?"

Tammy Dunlap you fool!  Anytime you spend in the word, you will be blessed !!

Chapter 4 of the book of Romans is a wonderful book with much discussion, dare I say, "explanation," about GRACE, imputed righteousness, and "Abraham our Father," (v.1).

Consider Romans 4:

4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6) Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness with out works,

And then there is discussion to the effect that this is available to the circumcised and uncircumcised alike...and how this blessing is ours through faith, not the law.

I love the language:

v. 13...righteousness of faith
v. 17...God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
v. 18 Who against hope believed in hope,...
v.20...strong in faith, giving glory to God

Romans 4:
21) He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
24)  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25)  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

my prayer:
Oh, praise the Lord!  All glory and honor to our Father and His Son who went willingly to the cross for
the justification
and imputed righteousness for those who believe in His position as only begotten Son who died and was raised to LIVE and prepare a place for us, and reconcile us to the Father, that the law does not define us or condemn us, for in Christ JESUS our iniquities are forgiven, our sins are covered.

Supply me with the faith that I need Father, so that my faith may be counted as righteousness.

Grow me in YOUR wisdom and YOUR ways.

Your will be done, in my heart, my life, the life of my family, and in all the world, as in Heaven.  Please give me eyes to see Your will and a heart to rejoice and follow....

Thank you for the life and HOPE that I have in Jesus.  All glory and honor to my Father, in Christ.  AMEN

Hope and Expectation of More Wonderful

I wanted a post in my blog, that I could pull up and post, and go to over and over, and often post as my big, "featured blog post," in my computer format design.  Just wonderful hope giving Bible quotes here:

My version:  KJV translated in my words in places,  to be easily understood
Holy Bible
gospel of  John 3
15) Who ever believes in JESUS, will not perish, but have eternal life.
16) For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son (JESUS), so that who ever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17) For God sent not His Son (JESUS) into the world to condemn the world; but so that the world through JESUS Christ the savior could be saved.

Romans 10:13
For whoever calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, shall be saved.

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved...

Romans 5:9
Much more then, being now justified by the blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (the savior Jesus Christ)

Romans 8:28
All things work together for the good of them that love God and are called according to His purpose

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward, you says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil...

Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honour is humility.

Proverbs 16:16
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives liberally...and it shall be given

Would you join me in this prayer?

Lord, everyday, and over and over, I choose you as my savior.  I ask for your blood shed on the cross to cover my sins, and for YOU to forgive my transgressions, that on judgement day, I will stand righteous, because of the plan for my salvation that YOU carried out according to the will of our Father.

Thank you for loving all sinners, loving me, and giving us this opportunity to live in eternal paradise with YOU.  Thank you for preparing a place in Heaven for the souls that the Father gives you.

Lord I pray for your will to be done in Heaven as in earth, and I pray that by the work of Your Holy Spirit, I will recognize your will at work, that I will hear Your voice, follow, heed your wisdom, yield good fruits for you, and continue to grow and be a bright light, shining your Sonshine for the world to see.

In Jesus's name I pray.  AMEN

Interview with Melissa Gendreau, Christian Mental Health Therapist

With great pleasure and excitement, I share a recent interview exchange between myself, and Christian blogger sister, Melissa Gendreau, who also happens to be a professional mental health therapist who has recently launched a WONDERFUL RESOURCE:

Melissa, I have been a huge fan of your blog, every since I found you!  There is no one better for my readers to hear from ABOUT YOU, than you!  Please tell my readers who you are, and about your blog.

Professionally, I'm a mental health therapist.

I started my journey working with children who had severe cognitive and physical impairments when I was a junior in high school.  I had always wanted to do something worthwhile.  It was an eye-opening and heartbreaking job that helped to shape me.

That led to a bachelor's degree in family services from the University of Northern Iowa.  From there I moved to Omaha, Nebraska.  I worked at Boy's Town as an assistant family teacher for three years.  I had a heart for the kids but saw that they were missing out on healing.

So I got my master's degree in community counseling from the University of Nebraska- Omaha.  While there I worked at the Boys Town National Hospital working overnights.  (I got a lot of studying done!)  I also had the opportunity to intern at Offutt Air Force base working with our service men and women along with their families.  It was an honor for me to help.

Following grad school, I moved (with family in tow) to Northern Wisconsin where I worked as a child and family therapist.  The program was a 30- day assessment center where the child remained for that time.  My job, along with a neuropsychologist and a psychiatrist was to figure out what was going on and what would be the best course of therapy for the child and the family.  The assessment center introduced me to the pain and trauma so many children have to endure.  I worked there for six years until I realized I needed to be more a part of the healing process instead of just explaining to people what was going on.

In May 2016 I moved the family again to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be able to work as a Christian mental health therapist.  God had been waiting to bring me to this position until I had gathered the previous experiences.  Now I see children on up to adults and married couples.  While the client's reasons vary, I have a large population of clients who have suffered from significant childhood abuse and trauma.

August 2017 I started Humble Faith Family Wellness.  I wanted to be able to share my therapy experience and practical tips to more people.  And from a Christian perspective.  Something I feel is lacking in the mental health world.

Personally, I'm a Christian, a wife, and a mommy of two!

I've been a Christian since I was 17. Since then there have been some seasons where I was close in my relationship with God and other times I have allowed life to get in the way.  Crying out to God from my laundry room floor when we were living in Northern Wisconsin was a time of coming back home.  God then led me to my current Christian therapy position and to start my blog.  He's not done using me and I'm so excited!!

My husband and I will celebrate 11 years of marriage this May and 4th of July will be 16 years since our first date.  Talk about getting fireworks, right?! Everyday I thank God for my husband.  He is my growing old partner and best friend.  I love doing life with him!

We have two children- our son age 8 and our daughter age 5.  They have such great personalities and a love for God.  The lessons God teaches me through them is never ending.  And my husband homeschools our kids.  (I told you he was amazing)

Now you are launching a wonderful workbook, that I am privileged to be working through right now (Feb. 1018) !  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the launch team.  Please tell my readers what this workbook is and how you envision it being used.

As a therapist I enjoy practical tips.  My clients and I work through their goals and areas of healing through processing their thoughts and feelings about the topic.  I am continually asking questions and challenging my clients to find the evidence and replace past hurt with TRUTH.  God's TRUTH.

The Living in the Word- Workbook is a 300 page journey to guide you through all aspects of your life to help you align yourself with God's word.

My hope is that the people choosing to take the journey will take their time. I envision them working on each area one at a time and really allowing their thoughts to take root.

The workbook addresses the areas of:

     * Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control

Personal Development-
     * Spiritual Growth, Internal Growth, Self-Care, Health and Wellness and Finances

     * Marriage, Family, Relatives, Connections, Tolerance, Accountability, Mentoring Others, Empathy, Accepting Feedback and Forgiveness

Career Development-
     * Education, Talents, Contribution, Co-Worker Connections, Leadership, Motivation and Time Management

     * Hospitality, Generosity and Civic Duty

When my children and my marriage were young, I read books by Dr. James Dobson, Gary Smalley, and others to learn what I could, to help me grow as a parent and marriage partner, and traveled some really hard roads.  I am very grateful that you are using your education to help the clients that walk through your office doors, but you are also now, through publications sharing your knowledge and insight with the broader public!!   Please share info, and social media links that may be of interest to my readers.

You can find me on social media at:

I also contribute for:

As a mentor and educator, having been involved with some children who suffered from neglect or abuse and who bore attachment issues, I REALLY appreciate that you can not only speak to common issues, but also issues that may be unique to injured or traumatized children.  You actually shed light on feelings behind behaviors and help us find logical desirable solutions to help children heal from painful and traumatic pasts.  I am very grateful for your work!

What last thoughts would you like to share?  What are your plans or expectations for the future?

My word for 2018 is "growth," and that is something I am wanting to focus on in all aspects of my life.  With growth generally means change and trials.  But with my eyes on God I'm excited for the journey and to look back on the eve of 2019 to where I've come.

I have lofty goals and big plans for the future that I will let God lead.  The next project will be on creating a course for people struggling with anxiety.  God also has placed some book topics on my heart. (One of which will be about attachment disorders).

Melissa, thank you for availing yourself for this interview, and to the world, through your blog and publications to help people heal, and find peace, joy, and increased productivity.  YOU are a precious jewel and I am so glad that I found you.

My readers:  Thank you for letting me share.

Review: Living in the WORD- Workbook

Have you ever WISHED that you could go to a professional counselor, but thought it was cost prohibitive?  I have.... and I have paid what I considered "big money," to go to a counselor before.  Life is not easy.  Rough patches in the road are TOUGH and can hurt.  Good friends, the Bible, and  Christian faith, surely HELP, and now I am so pleased to share with you a fantastic new resource for a fair price!!

Melissa Gendreau's publication, "THE WORD- WORKBOOK, a therapists guide to becoming a stronger Christian," is an impressive resource for enhancing productivity and joyful living, which is organized and rich with scripture, to help readers grow in pretty much every area conceivable!!  Self-care, finances, fruits of the spirit, and so much more... I would recommend this workbook as a mother-daughter project, a marriage enrichment encounter, personal growth endeavor and more.

Through this workbook, readers have access to a professional mental health therapist's wisdom, questioning, and planning skill in print!  With Melissa's compassionate heart behind it, when she leads you to tough places, she follows up with soothing balm from God's word, to build you up and inspire confidence and determination.

I highly recommend this book!

Get it for your self, your family, and as a gift for others that you love.  Just follow this link:

As always, thanks for letting me share,  something that I so highly esteem. For the sake of HELPING people grow in wisdom and joy, would you share this post, and this opportunity?  Thank you.

Be Polite and Kind

About 20 years ago, someone who treated me with love and respect, my Titus woman mentor, 20 years my senior, shared with me some very simple sage advice.  (She does not have a computer device and so I can not add her to our group)  She advised me, and over time "trained me,"  to be polite and kind.

She helped me see that often when situations seem complicated, expectations may often be boiled down, to, "Be polite and kind."   I am very grateful to have added to the wisdom that my mother started, (by giving me the best in southern girl good manners.....)

Now sometimes this all serves me well.  Often people appreciate politeness and kindness.  Sometimes people take politeness and kindness as a weakness.  I would assert that being polite in kind towards someone who takes it as a weakness, contrarily takes fierce strength.

Matchless love can fuel this fierce wisdom and self control.
Holy Spirit can inspire this fierce wisdom.

To control the tongue, is a feat.

In word or deed,
This advice I seek to heed.

Thanks to my Titus woman mentor,
It is my decision,
With determination and precision,

With my behavior and words,
I plan to be heard,
Not so much as clever you see,
Is the standard for ME.

Thank you Father for being a ready and present help in times of trouble, and thank you for giving me Titus women along the way, and wisdom to control my tongue.  Thank you for molding ME so that less of a problem, I will be.  All of my hope I place in thee. In Jesus's name I pray, AMEN

Time for an Empty Nester Splurge

Time for an "Empty Nester Kind of Splurge,"
It's where you have freedom to follow an urge

No need to worry
"What still to do yet?"

The day is yours,

No kids to tame,
Schedule is open,
Too many blessings to name,

You survived the rough days,
Memories a haze,
Your future is open,
God lead in the maze,

Now called mostly to love,
Be available as God wills,
... more time to indulge,
And way less bills,

Relinquish control,
You're not the one with wee ones...
I get to love and encourage,
Rest in humility and God,

Clean conscience,
Clean hands,
'Cause I was died for on the cross,
And many years now,
I've sought God as my boss,

Law of faith, I am covered,
No worries, but to LOVE,
I can because of Him,
My strength comes from ABOVE,

Less responsibility,
Fewer bills,
I get to do more what 'er I will,
And because of Christ in me,
I am better, better still,

In Christ is my HOPE,
As blessed *Empty Nester,

*My son is a grown man, raising a child,
My daughter is glorious, strong yet mild,
When both are away, doing their thing,
Empty Nest is the phase
That this time does ring...

Dear Father in Heaven,
I thank you for my children, and our growing family.  Thank you for so many answered prayers along the way.  Thank you for giving me permission, in fact the directive, to look at the bright side of every life phase.  As for me and my house, we do not want to live any of this life with out YOU!
In Jesus's name I pray, AMEN

Romans 3, Marvelous Moments in His Word

Blogging through the Bible with Ally at Speckled Goat blog, Romans 3 was my joy and challenge this week.  I am stretching to share in this way, but sharing His Word as I understand it, is an absolute joy and pleasure.

Most striking to me, in Romans 3,  is the strong language (KJV):

None righteous

poison of asps from lips

mouth full of cursing and bitterness

It seems to explain the  NEED for Christ, and the establishment of  "the law of faith" (v.27)

23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God:
24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
25) Whom God hath set forth to be propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for remission of sins that are past, through the forbearane of God:
26)To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27) Where is boasting then? It is excluded.  By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

WOW LORD !!  Romans chapter 3 is such a cool chapter, for explaining how the law(s) pre-Jesus Christ, were to humble man, and show the need for Messiah, to give humanity a chance to choose Christ as savior.

Redeemer that hung on cross
Praise the Lord for the way... Justifier who joined Gentile with Jew, and lives to intercede, for me, so that through faith there is a way to paradise.

Now, I depend on You Father, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit which you send, to help me to live and grow, in Your wisdom, Your ways.

May I choose Jesus as my savior,
All of my days!
In Jesus's name I pray.  AMEN
