Happy 2018 !! Newsletter Post

Happy New Year!
Thanks for visiting me here♡  I hope you have had wonderful time with family, and our Lord, in recent weeks! I have.

As my Grandma Mary Martha blog  was birthed publicly just 7 months ago, and has evolved, one tradition I have grown to look forward to, is sharing favorite posts in a monthly round-up, and clue-ing you in to blog news, or the inside scoop!

So here we go.

Something fun I have enjoyed learning in the last few weeks is making free and simple graphics from  !!

You will now see some simple graphics, and text dropped on pictures.  Canva has paid programs that no doubt yield more fabulous graphics, but I am very happy with this FREE option for now.

I have had some wonderful opportunities to collaborate with other bloggers on projects, and hopefully you will see the fruits of our labors in weeks and months to come all for the purpose of getting GOOD NEWs, fun, sunshine, and Sonshine to you.

And I had a SPECIAL SURPRISE..... that  I am hoping to be able to share with YOU.  If I get permission to share, I have no doubt you will rejoice with me..........

Favorite posts?  How to choose?  I can honestly say that when my writing is not fresh on my mind, I LIKE to go back to months and weeks prior, to visit.  Grandma Mary Martha is a place that I like to visit.

In the last month, here are some favorites.

Unexpectedly, one morning, I decided to label a category, "Marvelous Moments in His Word."  As the name would imply, scripture is the focus.  Occasionally a poem is for embellishment.

This post featured LOVE scriptures and the beautiful piece of LOVE art that my daughter made with scrolled paper:

This post is about Jesus the shepherd, savior, judge:

This one is about HOPE when HURTING:

Here, be reminded that God has it under control:

Inspiration was sweet when I paid tribute to a good man from our past, who was just "doing his part," and impacted my family big-time.  This post is about the importance of enduring in the race, because we live in a mission field and YOU could be someone's encouragement:

3 that demonstrate SONSHINE in the struggle:

☆continue Marvelous Moments in His Word
☆sharing poems and scripture links as they come
☆creative crafties or cooking occassionally; I seldom  know when...
☆ more ROUND-UPs to link you to wonderful blogs on specific topics !  (plans that make me smile)
☆BLOG CELEBRATION series with Guests of Honor, will be launched soon and added to periodically !!!  I do this, to share the blog blessings!  There is some FABULOUS stuff out there!  ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Thank you for dropping by💮 I hope I get to share more with you in the future ♡

May your 2018 be richly blessed with  Sonshine and all good things from our amazing God ♡

My Word for 2018, Courage!

My word for 2018
I'm kind of even afraid to claim it

It is more brazen than me.

I've always been a whimp in some ways,
Eager to please and be liked,
I wouldn't compromise my principles,
But I'd do about anything else,

Just to be loved,
To be appreciated,

And if I was misunderstood,
Or hated,

Oh dear me.
All I wanted to do was FLEE,

I wanted to run away,
Not deal with conflict,

This is why I claim the word

It is my word for 2018,
I want to have COURAGE,
To speak anything that is,

I want to have courage to speak,
My mind

I live a simple sheltered life,
I am grateful that I do not live in fear,
I know this is a PRAISE to GOD,
and the soldiers and servants
who serve year after year

May I live with

No fear
In this

a sparkling new year

Well, sisters, blog readers, I will tell you more,
I look forward with anticipation and gratitude,
Hoping for more,

Most of my life,
I feel like SURVIVAL was my word,

Survive university
work life
Sometimes all of the above can be rough

I'm here to testify
I'm here to say,
Hang with God,
And He'll GROW you
Day after day,

All of a sudden
It's done

university, check
dating, check
work life, marriage, motherhood,
check check check

Done done done

Thank God for His growth

Now COURAGE is my word

May I in Him
Be strong, wise, and ready,
to speak
for His Words to be heard

May I
In 2018
Be ready
and with

His strength and light
In me, be seen!!

Courage, wisdom, gratitude, grace, charity, love, victory, vision, humility, focus, endurance, mission...

There is power in every word.

Choose a word that will challenge you, and help you accomplish, stretch, in good ways to grow.  What will your word be for 2018?

Hospitality?  Cooking?  Compromise?  Skill?  Graduation?

God first, then family.... what will your word for inspiration and aspiration be?

I'd love for you to share ideas and thoughts in the comments below.  Maybe consider sharing this article with one of the small social media icons below by the date.

Thank you for dropping by.
Blessings in the Sonshine,
and good gifts that come from the Father above,

Marvelous Moments in His Word: on Courage !

Using the S.O.A.P. study method, above is my SCRIPTURE.

My OBSERVATIONS:  God supplies us with power, love, strength, and capable mind.  He is faithful.  He is trustworthy.

APPLICATION:  When I look to God, for my strength and power, courage, direction, I will not be disappointed.

Lord, all of my hope is in YOU.  Help me to remember to keep my eyes on you, and to cling to my faith and wisdom in YOU, and to receive all the strength, love, and good gifts, that you stand ready to share.  All glory and honor to YOU in Christ.  I thank you for the great things you have done, and all that you desire to do inside of me.  Courage I shall have, because YOU are my God, the Almighty, Amazing, Awesome, Creator God.  AMEN

Until I get to Heaven, It'll Happen Now and Then:

I woke up from sleep,
With worry on the brain,
You know...
The kind, disturbing as a train?

I listened a bit,
To what might have...
Should've, would've,
Could've been,

Then Wisdom
Said, "Just Pray."

Not everything is in your control,
Other folks have their lessons
To learn too,
Worrying 'bout it
Won't change* a thing

Listen to Wisdom,
Let her truth ring,

Remember in Ezekiel*
You stand in the gap!

Think on TRUTH and GOODNESS*
and leave cares in God's lap.

He's more than capable,
He is LOVE*,

You've no reason to worry,
It's not your job,
Now pray* with out ceasing,
Keep faith, LOVE
Those are your mandates
Instructions from above

Worry train
Be gone
Move on down the track

I belong to God in Christ
There is nothing* that I lack

I can leave my cares
and worries* with Him

He is my savior, my God,
bigger than worry whim.
Thank you God,
 for YOUR faithfulness*,
YOUR love,
YOUR word preserved,
and the moments when in my heart
 Wisdom is heard.

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest

Matthew 6:27
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Ezekiel 22:30
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise think on these things.

I John 4:8
...God is LOVE

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.

Matthew 6:33-34
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  (my conclusion=you will lack nothing)

Lamentations 3:21-24
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
I go back to these truths again and again, over and over.  Thank you for letting me share with YOU.

Understand Light and Dark at Common or Special, Social Gatherings

Think of the most famous artists, sculptors, inventors  in history.

Should any of their "creations" or doodles be discovered, how intelligent would it be to make them a LAUGHING-STOCK or a joke?

Rather, some intelligent collector would come along to recover, respect and perhaps admire and share in a museum, wouldn't you think?

What the artist creates, has a certain value precisely because of the reputation or esteem placed on the CREATOR.

Do you realize that the same is true for people?

As Christians, we believe (or KNOW) that people are created by GOD.

Does not that in itself, project VALUE on each and every person?  Yes, of course it does!!

Now this should influence our perceptions in TWO ways.

#1 You are created by the Most High God, Almighty Creator.... Do you have value?  Of course you do.

Love yourself.  Treasure yourself, for the magnificence of the creator from which you came.  If you deny love and appreciation of your life, your body, then you deny glory to your creator.

#2 Every person is created by the Most High God, Almighty Creator....So does every person have value?  Yes of course!

If you think unkindly towards another human, you disrespect the creator.  You disrespect God.  If you make another human the object of scorn or insult or make them a laughing stock, then you do so towards a creation of the most high God, and YOU truly have a PROBLEM.

Bullies often do this, and they are blind or mean.

I have caught myself (in flesh) thinking unkind thoughts of a bully nature towards someone. I vividly recall a specific incident.  Fortunately, the Holy Spirit came to speak wisdom to me, and work on my heart....

With the holidays, here, I am reminded that family and friends may be gathering more than commonly done.  In such gatherings, keep in mind, that if anyone is not respected or treated kindly, it is not the victim (of rudeness or bullying) that has the biggest problem.  The perpetrator has insulted or assaulted our awesome amazing Creator.

Stand up for truth and wisdom.

Hopefully be an example of LOVE, truth, and wisdom, because of God in you.

Be the light.  Be a channel of Sonshine, and know that you are special, you are loved and cherished, because you are a creation of the Most High, God of Gods, King of Kings, Ruler of the Universe, whom all will answer to someday.

Thanks for reading, and please share with one of the icons below, near the date.

Not His Real Birthday, but still a special day!

I know it's not His real birthday.
It's just another day.

When I can think on my blessings,
enjoy family,
give gifts away,

Maybe make some visits,
Do crafts and cooking and such,
Show some extra generosity,

Let someone know he's loved

It's just a traditional day,
to remember when
Jesus was born,

He came in flesh,
Born to Mary,
For us,

The wise men knew,
They followed the star,

To find the Christ child,
They traveled afar,

God grants His people,
Free will to all,

I don't mind using mine,

On some tradition that's fine,

I know it's not Jesus's real birthday,
It's a tradition,
A custom,
A very special way,

To get together with family and friends,
To show we care, and have fun,

Think on blessings,
Cooking and crafts,
Give some gifts away,

Remember baby Jesus,
The gift to the world He was

May we live for Him each day,
Pray our hearts are turned His way

Extra lights in dining area.

My daughter and I had fun decorating FINALLY.  We did something different this year.  We did not put the handmade ornaments on the tree, but we are enjoying them just the same.  We decorated the tree with inexpensive sparkly tulle and snowflakes mostly.  Then we hug the handmade ornaments on tulle around the front-door frame, and on the stairway hand rail where the stockings are hung.

Look at my son's wedding picture.  Isn't that adorable?  When I was taking the picture, the Christmas tree was reflecting on him.

I am so looking forward to seeing them.... and my grand-baby.

Merry Christmas dear ones!  Be happy and I wish you more of Christ, today and in daily life, your life be rich with Sonshine♡

Is Holiday Stress Your Companion these days?

(3 minute read)
Is holiday stress creeping in to your home, your car, your heart....?

The doors of entry can be sly:
Grief over loss of a loved on,
Disappointments over wishes, dreams, expectations, that will not come to be,
Chaos because you are aiming for an accomplishment that only God could achieve,
Or you are not making allowances to respect the person that you are,
Or the persons that your dreams or expectations hinge on.

Stop it.
Take a deep breath.

Look at your blessings.
Get down to basics.
Find your smile.

Our stress can turn us in to monsters,
unkind, unloving, impatient, mad, sad, upset mommy monsters,

When what our family and kids want most is for us to be

Never-mind perfect.
Save that for God,
but reading from Isaiah chapter one, recently, I thought of this holiday stress..... how we let it creep in sometimes.  We loose our focus.  We forget to let the Holy Spirit have control.  Then we do not please God and we do not please our family.

Worried about letting them down in someway?
Don't forget that SPOILING them would not benefit them.

Direct them to what is important.
You have each other.  You have LIFE.  You have HOPE, because  you have CHRIST.......

Everything else is
icing on the cake

cherry on top
butter on the roll
garnish on the 'taters
sugar cinnamon sprinkle

pretty cream in the coffee

but CHRIST JESUS is the bride-groom at the banquet feast.  Don't forget!

In Isaiah it seems as though God was sick of them going through the motions, and forgetting what is important.  Read his warning and advice, shared through the prophet:

Isaiah 1:18
11) To what purpose is the multitude of sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord:  I am full of the burnt offerings of the rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats.
12) When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand to tread my courts?
13)  Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with;it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14) Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me;  I am weary to bear them.
15) And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you:yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear:  your hands are full of blood.
16) Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17) Learn to do well; seek judgement, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18) Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Matthew 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Let that GIFT  to the world guide your heart!!
Keep that door to stress quietly and gently shut.

Hug your family.
Leave some stuff undone.

Keep your focus on Jesus, the most important one.  His Holy Spirit be in control.

All glory, honor, and gratitude, to our Father in Heaven, our Provider, our Savior, Redeemer.  His will be done in our hearts, our lives, our family's life, and in all the world, as in Heaven.  Amen.

Merry Christmas dear ones,
