Stressed in December??

2.5 minute read

Stressed?

To-do list too long, and time too short?

Grandma Mary Martha's prescription may shock you.

Take a HUMILITY PILL,
and CHILL with your loved ones.

My heart goes out to you.  You are probably either from one or three different paths of life.  See if you don't fit into one of these categories:

1) Stay at Home Mama who some days spends it ALL just trying to maintain, and raise great kids, and be an awesome wife.  Your to-do list is long and you never feel good enough.

2) A working mom, who feels  financial strain, and sometimes spends emotion, energy, time, AT WORK until you feel you don't have enough for what is most important (your family).

3)  You are just a perfectionist and a high achiever and most of your life you have tended to demand too much of yourself.  You are intrinsically motivated in every walk of life and always dreaming and aspiring to do more.

I imagine the reasons and circumstances that brought you to where you are today, are understandable and probably HONORABLE, so I am not here to convince you to so something else.

I am here to encourage you to love yourself,
and to quit expecting yourself to DO IT ALL.

Re-focus sisters.

If you are loosing your joy, then stop and think.

Take this HUMILITY PILL.

Accept it.  You are HUMAN.
You are WONDERFUL WOMAN,
Creation of God.
Not God.

You are ENOUGH whether you accomplish all on your list or not.

Is it so bad, to let go of somethings on your list?

I know my kids when they were little would rather have mommy snuggle, book reading, or happy game time in a messy house with mom, rather than make cookies and homemade Christmas cards with grouchy stressed mom in a sparkly house. (Not sure my house was ever sparkly...)

Honestly, take a look at your lists.

What can you let go of (the dream)?

What can you delegate?

What can you say no to?

What can you say "LATER," to  ??

Lots of families know how to be happy with out expensive gifts.

You don't need to impress family and friends with perfect anything.

Your kids need to be happy (mostly).

You need to have hope and joy, that they can see the light of Christ in you.

You don't need to do it ALL.
You don't need to be EVERYTHING to everybody.

Let God be God.  You be magnificent you, that He made you to be,

and ENJOY the simple things, with those beautiful people that love you.

Then give all glory and honor to Him.

Romans 12:1
...present your bodies  a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Now I wish I could hug you.
Know that I write this, because I have been all of the above. Yes, 1,2, and 3 have been me at different times, and of course I was the grouchy mom sometimes.....  You can read my confessional post here  https://grandmamarymartha.blogspot.com/2017/08/the-stain-is-on-my-hands.html .

Remember you are enough.  If your children and your loved ones are happy.......... YOU take the HUMILITY pill and don't expect yourself to be super-human.  Let God be God, and you be magnificent you ♡

OH, and I haven't had to deal with it in a while, but "extra mercy and grace," prescribed for yourself if it is YOUR TIME OF MONTH.  Just sayin'.  It can have a bearing.

Love from Tammy,

    1. Some of us can make ourselves swallow a HUMILITY PILL sooner than a chill pill. Thanks for reading and commenting Charlene.

  2. Yes to #2 and #3! And while yesterday was a day that the load and burdens felt unbearable, today is a new day because I made time for family and gave the rest to God. God is bigger than my to-do list! Thank you for your loving words and support to me and so many others! God bless, Tammy!

    1. Though my children being small and young are my BEST memories, it also was so rough (hard) that I would not wish to do it over again. It is wonderful to have sisters that encourage us, lift us up, and counsel wisely along the way. You are that for so many. I KNOW you are doing a GREAT job!!

  4. Very needful advice, Tammy! Here I am at home today but still unable to just put up my feet or nap. I know I can't do it all but sometimes I have trouble figuring how much I should attempt. God bless you, my dear!

  5. Recovering from adrenal fatigue really forced me to come face-to-face with my stress and all the things I thought I SHOULD be doing. I am thankful for being brought low, as all the "stuff" no longer seems so vital! Merry Christmas to you!

  8. Love, love, love this! I'm not a mom yet, but I am the type of person who takes on too much and tries to juggle everything. I'm going to let some things GO and let God handle it! Thank you so much for writing this!
