Proverbs 21 Devotional

Oh to skip on reading the entire chapter or book, is to MISS OUT on hearing from God!  You are invited to examine and discuss with me, my favorite verses from Proverbs 21.  Scripture in blue.  My comments in black.

Proverbs 21

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

It helps me to deal with people, hang on to patience, and be kind and merciful, if I remember, (my belief) "Most people in MY life, do pretty much the best that they can.  Often they think they are right, and everyone needs grace, including me. I don't have to be the judge.   That is God's job, and He knows their hearts, my heart, all hearts."

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
Obedience is better than sacrifice!  Want to give God something wonderful of yourself?  Give Him your OBEDIENCE to His word, and your heart, your love, your worship, your adoration.  Enjoy the sweetness!!

13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

Anyone need reminding that it s GOOD to be sensitive to the needs of others and to live with a spirit of generosity and giving?  To do otherwise, and (worldly word- term) karma can bite you!

15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

Verse 15 reminds me of that worldly word karma again.  Somehow... natural consequences, government executed justice, or God's doing-  evil behavior or attitude often leads to down-fall and destruction, while obedience begats reward from God.  This is a Bible theme observed even in Old Testament history.

I know whose side I want to be on.  I know who I want to serve.  How about you?

Have you read this chapter lately?  What are your favorite verses?  Have you ever observed someone FALL, following iniquity?  What are your favorite ways to support charitable causes?  What are your biggest take-aways from this chapter of Proverbs?

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for your word preserved.  Thank you for Your mercy, and grace, and wonderful provision in our life.  I pray Father that you would have Your way, in our hearts, in our minds, and in our steps.  May we live for You and serve You well by the power and leading of the Holy Spirit which you so lovingly planned for us.  All glory and honor to You.  In Jesus's name we pray, AMEN
