Gratitude for Proverbs! Don't you just love the book of Proverbs?  How much of life can be solved by applying a Bible proverb?  A LOT.  How much wisdom is in the book of Proverbs, for parents, or the young single person, or the business person?  A LOT!

Thank you for joining me as I focus on this chapter 15. My comments in black.  Quotes from Proverbs chapter 15, copy and pasted from Biblegateway.com, one of my favorite resources in the world!  Let's revel in the scriptures together.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
How good would it be to talk to children about that regularly?  It is a good way to remind them of God's presence, His importance, His omnipotence.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Prayer of the upright is His delight?  HOW UTTERLY AWESOME AND AMAZING!!!  Remember, we are righteous in Christ! (Romans 3:25, Romans 4:5, Romans 4:11, Romans 5:17-21)

22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
This is one of my favorite verses ever!!!  I think some version says, "There is safety in a multitude of counselors."  Now this is an excellent principle to remind any prideful or haughty child or person.  If one thinks that self is above learning from the counsel of others, then there may be a problem...

25 The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
God does not like PRIDE.  Pride thinks one is better than others and that is unloving and self focused or selfish.  Words of the pure are pleasant?  That is what the word says.  I think this has to do with motivation, awareness and intention.  Is motivation and intention as far as awareness goes...nice, innocent and pure?  Then God sees words from such a heart as pleasant.  Don't we prefer words also, from the pure of heart?  YES!
33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Fear the Lord.  Be humble.  Then you may honored.  God's will or His plan !  Let us not deny any part of it.

Which of these verses is your favorite?  Were/are these verses talked about in your home ever?  How do children learn God's Word, if not at home?  Who might you share this wisdom with?

Dear Father in Heaven, I am so grateful for Your Word preserved!  Thank you for the Proverbs, chucked full of SMARTS for us to learn from.  Help me to apply your word and honor you with my life.  Help me to be humble and appropriately fearful of your power and your awesomeness.  I pray that by the Holy Spirit in me, I will receive all of Your word and not pick and choose what I like most.
