Proverbs 12 Devotional

Proverbs 12 is more encouragement and enlightenment towards wisdom.  Honorable pursuit for sure!  Take to heart the exaltation of wisdom's value, and the GOOD reward that it brings in contrast to what wickedness brings.  Enjoy my favorite parts of the chapter with me here!  Thank you for joining me!

Proverbs 12
A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

WOW!  How easy is it to continuously carry out this implied assignment to build up husbands or be a blessing to them and to bring them honor with our lives, rather than live in a way that will cause shame to be associated to us?  Always easy?  I think not, and yes this verse 4 does apply to all people, not only wives/husbands.  Is not the right way to live, to edify one another?  (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

1The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

How often have you seen someone.... or how often has retrospect given you clearer vision to see that you thought you were doing well and right but later you found out how wrong you were?  We most all have our times of being a fool, so whether we are foolish or wise, let's atleast be wise enough to be humble and speak carefully.  May we be ready to learn from wise counsel.

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Let us never forget the power that we have when we have the opportunity to smile and share an encouraging word.  It is an opportunity to love, and to serve God...

How often are young ladies trained or taught to be ready to be a blessing to their husband, or others in general?  Would that practice be counter culture?  What can we do to promote God's way, God's wisdom, in our daily lives, in corporate church family life?

Dear Lord, use me to be a blessing to others.  Use me to promote Your way.  Forgive me for when I have failed to represent Jesus's love and light.  I want to live for You, Your way.  In Jesus's name I pray, AMEN

  1. You are a blessing, Tammy! You make some valid points about women in our culture today. How much more of a blessing we will get when we choose to do things God's way!
