Proverbs 2 Devotional

Obedience begats reward!
Proverbs 2 is encouragement for the classic Bible theme, "obedience begats reward."  Honoring His Word, pursuit of His wisdom, His ways, is a way to demonstrate obedience, and therefore a way to reap reward of protection by God.
Of chapter one, these are my favorite verses:

Proverbs 1:1-8
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Discussion and Reflection Questions
Does your life demonstrate a growing wisdom from the most high God, holder and giver of WISDOM?  Does your life demonstrate the chasing of wisdom and understanding, as if hunting for gold, silver, or valuable worldly treasures?  Who gives wisdom?  Exactly HOW does it come to anyone? What are some of the rewards of the saints (His beloveds)?  What can you do to continue or improve pursuit of wisdom?  Is your pursuit of wisdom legalistic or sweet and good fruiti?  How do you know?

Dear Father in Heaven, holder and possessor of all wisdom, creator and lover of the world and our souls, Father we thank you that You are our Father in Heaven and that through Jesus we may approach you.  Please forgive us of our sins, shine Your light on our path.  Give us courage and wisdom to go where you would have us to go, and to serve you well, and to grow in good fruits from the Holy Spirit inside of us.  All glory and honor to You. In Jesus's name we pray, Amen.
