Psalms 77-78 Devotional

Chapter 77 is all about soul-searching, possibly in a restless night, eventually determining to focus on the AWESOMENESS of God, as revealed in Bible or for the Psalmist; his historical heritage.  His historical heritage has no less meaning for us, God's adopted through Christ who actually was descendant of the Psalmist King David:

Copy and pasted from biblegateway.com, KJV:
Some of these verses could have come from my own heart:

Psalm 77
77 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old
.......................
Then chapter 78 is a glorious summary and re-telling of God's faithfulness, mercy and miracles in this historical heritage of King David, by his God, our God, but none the less striking to me is the instruction to teach the children what God has done.
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
.....................
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
.................
I stopped counting at 12.  12 miracles of God for His people, are recalled in Psalm 78 and also in this chapter is evidence and reminder that  God has feelings and emotions like anger and jealousy, and when His people offend Him, it does not begat good things.  Quite the contrar.

Have you ever felt restless with heart examination and seeking God's touch, in the night?  What can we learn from the example in these Psalms?  Do your children know of God's miracles?  Are you in the habit of daily Bible reading?  How might we at Christian Women Together be an encouragement to you in your journey?

Oh Lord, thank you for your mercy, your grace, for Jesus, and for the Bible preserved, that we can see that so much of what we go through is not unique to us individually and through it all You are God, and You are awesome, amazing and miraculous.  Thank you for loving us enough to send Jesus that we might be righteous under His blood shed on the cross.   Please grow us in Your wisdom, and Your ways.  All glory and honor to You in Jesus's name we pray, amen.
