Marvelous Moments in His Word: Jesus Has it under Control

(2 minute read)

All of God's word is precious.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

But for the sake of sharing the beauty in a short devotion, here, it is my pleasure to share some thoughts with you from 1st Thessalonians chapter 5.

1st Thessalonians 5:16-19 and 23-24
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
.......................................
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He that calleth you, who also  will do it.

v.16, "Rejoice evermore."  Could our instruction be any plainer??

(REFUTING LEGALISM)  Does it say, "Rejoice if you are sure all your ducks are lined up," ?  NO.

REJOICE      EVERMORE.
PRAY with out ceasing!

GIVE THANKS in everything.

"Quench not the spirit," sure seems to be another directive, and implies that we can expect the Holy Spirit to be at work somehow, and we are transferred the responsibility to NOT QUENCH it.

How?????
I am sure that PRAY
                       BE HAPPY  (rejoicing evermore)
                       GIVING THANKS
is an excellent place to start!!!

v.23 and 24 seems to answer this question of HOW by addressing sactification,
with "God of peace," being the subject.
"Sanctify" being the verb!!

Sanctify who?
"You" (me)
...to be "preserved blameless,"
and v.24  also talks about WHO will do it:

FAITHFUL IS HE THAT CALLETH YOU WHO ALSO WILL DO IT.

Can you rest in this wonderful wisdom?
Can you rejoice that we can trust Him who called us, to sanctify (make holy) those who are His.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before them endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Can you rest in this wonderful wisdom?
Can you bask in this beauty?

We can trust Him.

He is the Savior, Christ Jesus.

Thank you for sharing a few marvelous moments with me here.Be blessed in the Sonshine of our Lord.

Love,
Tammy

  3. We can rejoice in who Christ is, even if our lives are a living hell. We must wait patiently on God's timing, like Job did in his misery. But yes, we can sing praises that one day Jesus will wipe away every tear.

  5. Thank you for the reminder! It is very easy for us to forget to always rejoice, to never stop praying, and to always give thanks!

  6. My favorite is pray without ceasing. Sometimes I like to help God out a little when he needs no help and I had to learn that God is in control. Thanks for this info it’s always good to get a reminder that God doesn’t need help
