Advantages of Making Your-own Pies with Your Teen-ager

Important Reasons to Have your Teenage Girl in the kitchen with you making pies for Thanksgiving(or boy, if he's interested):

So you can giggle with each other:
~ like when she asks you WHY you said to stir the sloppy pumpkin canned milk mixture slowly, right before she SPLASHED some mixture on herself......and then slowed down.
~or when you tease her for being slow, and she reminds you that she is really not that slow, but that she is stopping every 5 seconds to do something for YOU.
(like take a picture of your new crust method on the pumpkin pie in the cast iron pan; explained: methodically designing crust below edge because pies will be transported in layers, stacked: pie, cookie sheet, more pies...)

So she can learn new skills:
~like how to take the shell bits out of the egg yolks
~how to braid pie dough and make decorative crusts (her idea)

So she gets to know herself better:
~like that she really does have a preference after-all about how to decorate the pies
~like that she really CAN be efficient and just a little bit faster after all
~like that SOMEDAY SHE WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS ALL BY HERSELF, for her own family..............SOMEDAY

And she learns what a special time this is, and how blessed we are to have each other.

So she will have another wonderful memory!

Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name.

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Thank you for letting me share.
