6 Points of Wisdom for Dealing with Painful Rejection

Let's face it.  Live in this world, and you are going to experience some form of painful rejection.

Dealing with it seems to be "part of life."  See if you identify with one of these scenarios:

  • You made it clear that YOU are willing or desirous to have a relationship with someone, and that someone, obviously does NOT feel mutual at that moment in time.
  • You gave your BEST to someone, somehow, and you feel your BEST was disrespected, betrayed, or trashed.
  • Rude words, actions,  or blatant ignoring of your feelings or personhood, clearly communicates rejection to you.

Does any of that strike a familiar chord with you?  It does with me.  It is never delightful to deal with rejection, but there is good and wonderful to come out of it, and this is how:

1)  Know who you are, and have your priorities straight.  A great point of reference is to understand the creator's interest in you, and put Him first.

Luke 12:7
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 6:33
Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

2)  Know when to walk away.  Have clearly identified and healthy boundaries.  Understand what is acceptable and what is unacceptable treatment of you, and be ready to protect your boundaries. Move you and your boundaries out of the path of abuse.  Leave the bad in the past.

3)  Focus on the positive and expect the positive.  When you walk away, or leave the rejection in the past, don't dwell on the disappointment.  Look for the blessings.  If not that relationship that you thought that you wanted, then assume a better one is on the way.   It probably is !!

Philippians 4:8
...if there be any praise, think on these things.

1John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, that he that is in the world.
4)  Cultivate functional supportive relationships.  When feeling rejected by an individual or a group, look around for who may be wanting your attention!  Is there someone who YOU should give some positive attention to?  Is there someone who is wanting to be closer to YOU?  Is there someone who you should reach out to, or fill a need for?
1 Thessalonians 5:11
... comfort yourselves together, and edify one another...

5)  Whether it is an individual, a group, or even a company or business.......... when life doesn't come to you the way you want, continue to give it your best, and know that it will come back to you eventually.

Galations 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

6)  Not always fun, but be thankful for the strength, patience, and wisdom, that the hardship of rejection can cultivate in you.

James 1:4
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Walk in the Lord's wisdom, and your Sonshine be bright !  Don't let any rejection dim the the light from with in♡
