God is with us through it all, and we are here for Split Pea

When we loose it all, we do the best we can.  We find a new normal.  Split Pea is the only one left.   (If you missed our kitten chronicles, I hope you will read about day one, and days since.)  He has had to adjust to a new normal, which is cuddling with soft towels rather than his siblings.

It has been a critical situation, but we are more hopeful than ever.  "He" has managed to make the adjustment to purchased formula (better for him I am sure) and bottle.

Nipple hole, sucking reflex, all are finally working together, and all systems are a GO.  Feeding, burping, massage, poopie, clean-up... all going well and boy is he getting stronger!

His little legs aren't so weak and shaky and he "climbed," up to her shoulder.........

After eating and taking care of some other important life business, he snuggles in his towel bedding with rice socks tucked around him for the feel of sibling weight.  If temperature is in question, we heat the rice socks up in the microwave for 45 seconds and wrap them in a towel so provide warmth and also therapeutic weight.

We have been very creative to help him feel comfortable and loved.

Look at his adorable paws.  Finally white hair is beginning to grow in on the naked pink legs and paws.  When/if the formula doesn't come out quick enough, he slaps and grabs with his little paw.

We know Mama cat would be better for any kitten, but we are doing the best that we can, because we couldn't stand to watch them have a slow, wasting away death on our front porch, with Mama cat ignoring.  Saturday when they were born we think the mama cat rejected them because they were premature (furless legs, questionable ability to suck, inability to regulate body temperature).  We have cared for them the best that we knew how to do.

We only have one of the original 4 left, and it is the tiniest one that survived: Split Pea.  Navy, Pinto, and Chick Pea, passed away.

We celebrate Split Pea's
ONE WEEK OLD
BIRTHDAY

He is really not in the mood for posing.
.....................................

Through all the changes, the good and the bad, Christians have the comfort of knowing that their God is for them, and He is faithful and loving.

1st John 4:8..... God is LOVE

Deuteronomy 7:9

Therefore know that the Lord you God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.

Eternal perspective, and loving arms and friends make it sweet and bearable on the way to Heaven, even when we have to adjust to a new normal.

    1. Thank you for visiting Yolanda. Yes, we did our best..... I have learned a little, and perhaps would be better if I ever have to do this again, but I would not wish to. I would wish for all kitties in the world to have the benefit of their mother's good milk and her loving attentive tongue.... (I learned the babies NEED stimulation, which mother provides) to go potty. I have to substitute...using tissue paper and sometimes a warm moist cloth. It has been very time consuming endeavor, but we are in love with Split Pea, and praise God for His creation which adds to the pleasure as we travel towards Heaven by His provision and grace.

  4. This is so precious, when I was a little girl, I had a lot of kittens, many of them were newly born, and some caught flu, I would bottle feed them and took so much care, they died...it was so painful....I went through the grief of losing kittens..loved it that you could save Split Pea..:) (By the way, I linked your blog to my favorite blogs in my blog)
